In a few days, the entire nation will watch the Super Bowl. The Super Bowl is the championship game for professional American football. Whether you like sports or not, this is a yearly event that everyone takes part in. Some people just watch it for the amusing commercials, and some just watch the halftime show that hosts the world’s biggest performers. People invite their friends and family over and host parties, or some people even go to their local bars and watch the match there. No other sports event in the United States holds as much popularity as the Super Bowl.

This year is going to be Super Bowl LIII [53]. It first started in 1967 and it hasn’t looked back ever since. The two teams taking part in this year’s game are the New England Patriots and the Los Angeles Rams. The Patriots were seen as underdogs coming into the playoffs and they quickly turned that mentality around after blowing out the Los Angeles Chargers, as well as pulling off an impressive victory over the Kansas City Chiefs at their home turf; but, I’m pretty sure that nobody can ever count out Tom Brady (quarterback) and Bill Belichick (coach) when talking about a Super Bowl. For this will be their 8th Super Bowl appearance together.

As for the LA Rams, plenty of people believed that they would make this year’s Super Bowl, but not in the way that they did it. After beating the Dallas Cowboys a few weeks prior, they had a difficult task in facing the #1 seed New Orleans Saints at the Saints’ home field. Late in the fourth quarter, the Saints had the ball at the 13th yard line. The game was tied and they just needed a first down to run out the clock and score. It was 3rd down, and as the receiver was going to catch the ball, he got hit down to the ground before he even got a chance to catch the ball. There was no penalty. Everyone was in shock and there was no explanation for it. The game ended up going into overtime and the Rams pulled out the victory. But, you have to give some credit to the Rams for having a terrific season and achieving one of the hardest accomplishments in all of sports - and that is, going to the world-renowned Super Bowl.

In the end, the two best teams ended up making the Super Bowl. Note how I said the two best teams because they showed that they were by beating everyone else in the league. I predict that the Patriots will win their 6th Super Bowl by beating the Rams 31-24. It will be a tough, grueling battle between both of the quarterbacks. What’s interesting about this Super Bowl in particular is that it is going to be a 41 year old quarterback going up against a 24 year old quarterback. It is also going to have a 66 year old coach against a 33 year old coach. It’s very interesting because it is going to be a battle between the decades.

Hold on tight, because this is going to be a game that will be remembered for a long time.
